Please note, Platform Lab has outstanding relationships with numerous hardware and software vendors. If your firm requires resources not found on our current lists, please contact Platform Lab in advance and we will make every effort to acquire your targeted resources for your project.

Cost of Configuration: $300 per device per week

Platform Lab enables clients to design their own custom configuration at a low rate of $300 per device, per week/$100 per hour configuration.

EXAMPLE: You select 9 hardware devices, chosen from our resources of servers, tape drives, storage and network devices with operating systems and select software -- configured to your specification at any of the four Platform Lab locations for a cost of $3,000 per week.

A common configuration charge would be $500. Total testing cost would be $3,500.

(Individual devices may be added or subtracted at $300 per device. Please note that on-site use of the Platform Lab facility room constitutes a device. Remote users do not incur this charge.)

Out of Ohio clients:

Platform Lab enables clients from outside of Ohio to design their own custom configuration at a low rate of $350 per device per week/$100 per hour configuration.

Training Room: (Columbus facility only)

The Platform Lab Training Room has everything you need for your session. It features - 16 seats/ 1 instructor station - 17 Dell GX620 workstations each with a 3.2 GHz Intel processor, 2 GB RAM and 80 GB disk, hardwired and wireless connectivity, Microsoft XP Pro/Office, 17" LCD monitors, Dell XGA projector, 4 whiteboards, network printer, in-room thermostat; Coffee station, refrigerator, quiet, comfortable, secure environment with 36” student workspaces.

The Platform Lab Training Room is available for $500/day or $2000/week. Set-up cost is $100/hour, normal set-up is one hour. The Platform Lab Training Room is available at Platform Lab - Columbus, only. www.platformlab.org/classroomtraining.asp

Large seminar hall space is also available – 80 seat theater or 50 seat classroom for $300 per event www.platformlab.org/facilitytour.asp

Discounts Available:

Organizations that belong to Ohio IT Alliance, TechColumbus, The Circuit, Greater Dayton IT Alliance, NEOSA, Toledo Regional Growth Partnership or IT Alliance Appalachia Ohio receive a $25 per device per week rate discount. -- Firms that contract for multi-week engagements may also be eligible for discounts.

Bandwidth Capability:

Platform Lab is the only facility that can provide on-demand access to the OSCnet, the nation’s most advanced superscale 10 Gigabit network. All 4 Platform Lab facilities have 1 Gigabit connectivity.

Platform Lab clients can request over 1 Gigabit of bandwidth, at a non-profit rate for $12 per Megabit, per day, per client. Bandwidth utilization in excess of 100 Mb is allocated for $9 per Megabit, per day, per client.

Notes of Interest:

Platform Lab is in high demand; please contact us as soon as possible prior to your test project. We do not work with minimum set up requirements, however two weeks advanced notice is preferred. Initial utilization of Platform Lab resources requires a signed agreement, prior to testing.

As a non-profit, Platform Lab can acquire hardware and software on demand for a variety of load test, disaster recovery, proof-of-concept evaluations and other test projects. Platform Lab will however, pass along 100% of any costs or rental fee associated with a clients’ configuration, directly to the client.

- Often, with proper advance notice, Platform Lab can secure testing resources on loan without incurring cost, so no additional client cost is incurred.
